In Pursuit of Lost Books -- On the Road

This is a series of comics about finding a copy of the book The Winding Stair, by Jane Aiken Hodge. Previous entries can be found here.

Books and authors mentioned in this episode:
Jack Kerouac has been mis-served by every movie about him and his work, ever. Also, I've found that there's a whole slew of people that are fans of the idea of Kerouac, but not his writing-- they're insufferable. Read either On the Road, or Dharma Bums. If it speaks to you, check out his other books, read up on who the books are about, and all that good stuff. If not, well, you've read a book that's one of the touchstones of American literature, so you've got that going for you...
Master & Commander, by Patrick O'Brian is the first book in his epic series about nautical adventures at the beginning of the 19th century. Swashbuckling, naval battles and 19th century novel of manners all wrapped up into one.
Sax Rohmer has lots of books available at Powell's
The It-Doesn't-Matter-Suit, by Sylvia Plath is out of print, but here's the Goodreads page for the book
